When JBL needed to launch their new can-sized speaker at a major college football game, they called in the best stadium hawker around— JBL Joe. Trading out the soda cans, hot dogs, and popcorn for brand new JBL Grips, Joe traveled aisle to aisle at Williams Brice Stadium in Columbia, South Carolina to hand out the brand new speakers to devoted Gamecocks fans. In partnership with the Annex creative agency and JBL, Motion Bazaar brought JBL Joe to life in a short mockumentary that went viral on instagram. Directing the hilarious social media influencer Nick Cassano through a whirlwind tour of wild tailgating events as well as navigating the chaos of a big SEC Football game; Motion Bazaar executed a high-wire act of creating an entertaining spectacle for the fans at the game, while also capturing the hilarity and excitement on camera to produce a viral moment for the brand. With the most moving parts of any MoBaz production to date, the team had to maintain a breakneck pace and adapt on the fly throughout the day, but the result feels as controlled and calculated as any of their projects.
